Painting in progress. 36” X 36”
I just photographed some new images of my series entitled “Rose of Memory”. I still have a few paintings to finish before the series is completed. It is a mixed media series including dried flowers, fabric, glass and resins. I have been using mixed media elements in my art for over ten years. With this series I wanted to experiment with the idea of using mixed media as the subject matter. I chose dried flowers as the subject matter.
“I really appreciate the interesting textures mixed media can create, but I only like to incorporate it if I can do so in a natural way, almost as if they grew there.” - Katie Collins

“True progress quietly and persistently moves along without notice.”
― St. Francis of Assisi
Subtle changes are happening with this painting. It is almost finished but not quite. I am using a technique I call paint chip mosaic. I always let the left over acrylic paint on my palette dry; I then peel it off, save it and incorporate it as mix media into my paintings. It creates interesting textures and colors. In this painting I am using the paint chip mosaic technique for the “water”, which is the bottom portion of the painting.
